How it all began...
In Mallet, a group of Polish immigrants who saw education as a path to development and progress in the region, came together and created the Kolegium Mikołaj Kopernik.
With a lot of effort and dedication, they acquired an area of 33,100m². So, the school was born on February 28, 1911, starting the activities of the 1st and 2nd year of high school courses. All this educational and cultural heritage was the initiative of the citizens: Romão Paul, Tadeu Suchorski, Romualdo Krzesimowski, Stefan Bartoszek, Józef Baziewicz, Michal Trojan, Janina Kraków, Stefan Rosinski, Henryk Sobanski.
The school changed the lives of those who completed their studies. Mallet became a cultural center, receiving students from the region and other states.
The school had a chemistry and physics laboratory, a library with about 2000 volumes, music classes, dance, athletics and several other sports. The school had its activities closed with the nationalist movement of Vargas. With that, some time later, the Ginásio Malletense, which also took the name of Nicolau Copernicus, but now, as a Brazilian school, starts to function on the place.
